About Sarah, PMHNP-BC

Sarah has a bachelor's degree in communication with a minor in dance from the University of Arizona. After the birth of her first child, she made the decision to pursue nursing. She began her nursing career in January of 2012. Her experience as a bedside nurse included postpartum and labor & delivery. After she struggled in silence with a perinatal mood and anxiety disorder (PMAD), she made the decision to compete for Mrs. Arizona America to share her story, spread awareness on PMAD, and help break the stigma mental health patients experience. She won the title of Mrs. Arizona America 2018 and during her year of service found a huge gap in access to care for maternal mental health. She left bedside nursing to pursue a graduate psychiatric degree and worked for Nurse Family Partnership as a nurse home visitor working with first-time, high-risk, low-income pregnant mothers and their families.

Sarah graduated from Frontier Nursing University with a master's in nursing with a degree as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP). She was a board member for Tucson Postpartum Depression Coalition for three years. Sarah has also received additional training with postpartum support international. Her goal is to help each patient reach their full mental health potential through collaborative care. She treats the life span, however she specializes in treating pregnant and postpartum patients. Sarah's practicing philosophy is to follow evidence-based practice guidelines and recommendations, while promoting individualized care for every patient.
